Well today my WOW client had a fatal error, I quickly restarted to see if I could load up, sadly to no avail. I repaired and held my breath... nothing. I uninstalled and reinstalled all three games, and many hours later I was on, the game ran and all looked well. That is, until I signed in.
The thing I had prided myself most on was gone. My WTF folder, although I had attempted to back it up before reinstall, was corrupted :( I had to revert to an old backup that is nowhere near as close to my liking. Well tomorrow is another day. I will fix my interface... eventually.
Oh nooooooo. I dread the day that something should happen to my WTF stuff. I guess that should remind folks to occasionally back up their dir's
ReplyDeleteBack when Blizz's automagic update across various computers tended to wipe out your newest files w/your oldest, I decided it was time to start using version control for my WTF directory.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to look into subversion (http://subversion.tigris.org/) or some other VC system. There's a bit of a learning curve, but it's not all *that* bad. It's better than a simplistic "automatically tar up the directory everyday" in that it only backs up things that have changed, allows you to revert back to any version of a file(s), and saves space both when it decides something needs backing up & by not doing needless backups...
Ouch! Sorry to hear that man.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear that. Good luck getting your UI back to what it was.
