Grid: The basics of configuration

Hey guys it's Valrot again. Today I received a comment by Onewing. He asked me to explain the difference between unit frame addons and addons such as grid. The very basic difference between addons such as pitbull or xperl and grid is that grid is a way to easily display a large amount of information about members of your party in well a grid. Where as addons such as Xperl or Pitbull allow for configuration of frames such as player, target, target's target, focus, pet, as well as offering configuration of party and raid frames. I personally am not as huge of a fan of xperl or pitbull's raid frames as I am of using grid.

For those of you who are looking for an addon which will allow you to configure your party/raid frames into a neat setup I highly recommend grid. This addon does take some time to configure. however, would like to point you towards a video made by Paxnot which helped make that process easier for me and hopefully for you.

I did not create this video, and do not take credit for it.

I hope this addon helps you to develop a cleaner better interface.

Thanks for reading,

  1. =O use Bufes video instead

  2. I would love to check out the video you recomend, however without any sort of direction in which way to head, the comment is not a ton of help. Feel free to link me the video and I would be happy to take a look at it.

  3. Sadly, whilst Bufe's video's were excellent, they were held on sites which no longer host them and, thus, I don't think they are available any more.

Bufe's were rather good as they went into come detail about setting up the extras that druids need - timers and stacks and gave the options, not just his own personal preferences.

This tutorial is not bad, though, certainly a decent start to give people ideas of what they can do with grid.

  4. I found Bufe's tutorial videos here:

  5. @Anon: Yep, so did I... but if you look more closely, you'll see that none of the video's are actually available and all show an error when you try to load them :P

  6. The reason for this is the fact that these videos all were hosted on filefront which no longer is in service. If anyone knows any other places to find these videos that are hosted ona different site, let me know I would love to see how grid is best configured

  7. Grid is one of the best application in the world,so I think that this information is so important and the video is really interesting, thanks !!!
